DICK_CEPEK TIRES

Dick Cepek was an adventurer and outdoorsman. After moving to California, he acquired a Land Rover to explore the local deserts, but soon realized the available tires were not suited to the type of terrain he was encountering. In 1961, Cepek helped develop a wide, street legal, flotation tire for light trucks, which he started selling out of his garage to friends and off-roading enthusiasts.

In 1963, Cepek and his family equipped their vehicle with his tires for the ultimate test. They drove the length of the Baja peninsula totaling 1,000 miles. He was so impressed with the tires, that he coined the phrase, "Baja Proven."
